Paul - have you had any issues sending from @kwlug.org addresses to @gmail.com addresses?
I took a quick run by https://mxtoolbox.com on kwlug.org - it's not entirely happy.

I'm a little confused, though - I could put any ol' from address in. The SMTP server swallows it up and forwards it on. Just what is google reverse DNS'ing against?
Try creating an authenticated user account and using SMTPAUTH if you are
not already when sending from the kwlug VPS. The reverse DNS doesn't
matter as long as it matches to one of the forward A records.

Also check the gmail spam folder. Sometimes Gmail junks my 'alert' type
emails.
I can't say I know what it should be set to - mail.kwlug.org

<http://mail.kwlug.org> / drupal can't be impacted by this. These
are all @kwlug.org <http://kwlug.org> (outgoing) addresses. There is
no and never will be a mail server here - outgoing / notifications only.

AFAIK, there can only be one reverse IP to name mapping. So it's not
clear to me what to suggest. (It will never be able to get back, and
I can't know what e-mail addresses might be used by other parts of
the server later.

-----

Help me understand ... Linux boxes all over the world have
(internal) mail baked in - even internal notifications work that
way. It's only a small step from that to sending the notification
externally, and @gmail has to be a frequent destination. Especially
with dynamic ip addresses - everybody can't set their reverse ip!
Huh? (Grumble, at gmail, not you.)

[Let alone direct send to cpanel2 from Thunderbird identity just
worked. Which wasn't from the vps.]
