They are not fine when used as a registrar. A couple of years ago they
would routinely hold entire websites hostage, based on nothing other
than frivolous spam reports. They would take your website offline and
you had to pay $300 to get it back online even if the spam report was
frivolous and irrelevant. This was not an isolated occurence, it was
common business practice.

You and I compete, I send godaddy an email about your domain. Boom,
your site is gone until you call them and pay them $300. Holla!

I also have a friend that's recommended godaddy who just email blasted
his customers. His customers started calling and registering with
godaddy, and one old guy at least has a customer service rep sneak a 5
year registration past the guy. And they would not refund. They
charged, and done.

In this case, one good experience should not translate into a
recommendation. Godaddy has too long a history of dramatically
screwing registrants for money and continues to be unapolagetic about
it.

Plus, I don't trust companies who's basic marketing premise is 'tits'.

Been using them for many years without any issues.
The cost is low (at least for .com/.net/.org, haven't tried .ca).

Their control panel feels "busy", and they try to upsell/cross-sell via
email
newsletter. Just ignore those.

Don't get their hosting. It is no good.

Don't use them for DNS either.

If you use them just as a registrar, they are fine.
