I'm going to take my tinfoil hat off and say why not ask the manufacturer:<div><br></div><div>1. Find out if they really need the entire drive or just some portion of it such as the top plate with the serial number. THen you can mangle the drive however you like.</div>

<div><br></div><div>2. Ask then what their policies are for this.  Do they destroy the drive?  If they refurbish it do they use a DoD wipe or similar.</div><div><br></div><div>3.  If the data really is that sensitive destroy the drive your self and purchase new.</div>
