I've been doing the Ctrl-R thing yesterday and today. That's totally
what I was looking for and a huge timesaver. I seem to do so much
repetitive repetitive stuff, typing lengthy commands is a pain.<br>

Test/upload/test/upload is one example - I might do that 20 times in an
hour, with the same 3-4 commands. <br>

<pre wrap="">If you are at the command line you can type Ctrl-R and start typing the command. It will do a reverse search.
Another way I use is to open the ~\.bash_history file which contains the list of commands.

What's the command to browse your
command line history, based on the first letter of the
command?
i.e. I'm at a command prompt and want to get the last
'mysql' command I typed in.
I know it's possible, I don't even know what the heck I'd
google :).
