Yes, showing bootup messages does more harm than good, though that may
be overstating it.<br>
<br>
Bootup should happen flawlessly for most users and like making
sausages, we don't want to know how it all got there. If it doesn't,
then expect to need someone somewhat literate to fix it - someone with
enough knowledge to know initially how to turn off the masking of
bootup messages (or check the logs). <br>

I much prefer my desktop not showing bootup messages - though for me
it's really a personal taste thing.<br>

Yes. I can do things like this. The question is whether the defaults
are sensible. Does showing bootup messages do more harm than good?
