A group called the Linux Association Canada (linuxassociation.ca,
which does not have much on it yet) is trying to create a network of
free/open source community organizations. They reached out and asked
KWLUG to be a member of it.

I asked them for details and at this point it looks like the
requirements would be:
- We provide an email they can use to contact us
- They list us as a member on their website

I am inclined to agree to this and give them our organizers email as
the contact. However, I want to solicit opinions from our membership
first. Should anyone present know of any reason that these
organization should not be associated[1], speak now or forever hold your
peace.

I will post the original pitch below this message.

- Paul

[1] hopefully not "in holy matrimony," but you know how these things
go.

Dear Linux User Group Leaders and Community Members,

On behalf of the Linux Association of Canada, we would like to extend
an invitation to your Linux User Group to become a community partner
and member organization within our growing national network. Our
mission is to support, promote, and strengthen Linux and open-source
communities across Canada through collaboration, education, advocacy,
and shared resources. We believe local Linux User Groups play a vital
role in building inclusive technical communities, mentoring new
users, and advancing open-source knowledge.

Why Join the Linux Association of Canada?

Membership for Linux User Groups is completely free, and partnership
offers several benefits, including:

Inclusion in a national network of Linux and open-source communities
Opportunities for cross-promotion of events, meetups, and initiatives
Shared educational and technical resources
Collaboration on workshops, conferences, and community projects
Increased visibility through our website and social media channels
Opportunities for volunteer coordination and outreach
Support for advocacy and public awareness of Linux and open-source
technologies
Access to future partnership initiatives and community programs

We welcome:

Local Linux User Groups
Open-source clubs and meetups
Educational technology groups
Makerspaces and technical communities
Student Linux organizations
Community-driven open-source initiatives

Our goal is not to replace or control local groups, but to help
connect and strengthen them through cooperation and mutual support
while respecting each group’s independence and identity. We would be
honored to have your group join us as we work together to grow the
Linux and open-source ecosystem across Canada. If your organization
is interested in partnering or would like additional information,
please reply to this message or contact us directly. We would be
happy to discuss collaboration opportunities and answer any questions
you may have. Thank you for everything your community does to
support Linux and open-source technology.
