Something else really neat about `ncdu` is you can output the scan to a JSON file which can be read into `ncdu` later. I have a pretty large filesystem and running `ncdu` on some of the larger folders can take some time, so I setup a cron job to generate the `ncdu` JSON periodically so that I can instantly browse it. It’s also useful in situations like the DBA’s full drive, because a privileged user can run `ncdu` as root and output the file list and then pass that to the operator who can browse the file usage information whenever they’d like without needing privileged access to read all the files.
