I used a USB enclosure and a USB3 connection on the Raspi 4. Gig Ethernet
completes the connection.Years ago I opted for the WD My Book because it
ran Linux and could be rooted. It was really slow (CPU-wise) and every time
I updated it it wiped out my software installs and settings. The Raspi4 was
the first with USB3 so it was time to switch to a better processor and more
features.
If I were to do it again I might go with a Raspi 5 and attach an SSD drive
using an M.2 hat.
