I'm not hurt either way I know that a DSLR gets us to a place where we don't have strange digital compensations causing strangeness in the video feed.  I'll aim to be at the library 15-30 minutes early. If this turns out to be helpful, I'm not sure it'll work, but it is potentially an option.  I also have two lenses, and I couldn't tell you what they are or their purpose.  This camera was initially given to my partner because it doesn't record video, but from links we've seen on the D90, it shows that it can. So perhaps the initial assumptions were wrong altogether, so I don't know. Let's try a quick look, and if there are any experts who are nearby, then great.
