Ubunutu LTS Servers have always been easier to get rid of snap, since there
is no desktop, no Firefox, ..etc. So I imagine that upgrading those will be
easier than Xubuntu.

On the desktop, I never used "Ubuntu" (neither Gnome nor Unity), so I never
had the issues many have reported.

Xubuntu (that is, XFCE) does everything I need. The desktop is functional
and
does not stand in the way.

And I always stay with LTS releases. The interim releases are not worth the
trouble at all.
