GrapheneOS is pretty neat. It has the ability to sandbox apps (and the 
optional play store). It only supports Pixel devices iirc.

I flashed it on my old phone, but unfortunately that phone died a few 
weeks later. I don't suspect GrapheneOS itself, but it did end my 
experiment prematurely.
