For the font issue, I found an extension that works around the problem.
It is called "Zoom Page WE".

For the timezone issue, no luck so far. Not only does Gmail shows the
wrong time, but other sites that depend on the browser to get it from
the operating system (e.g. my local Home Assistant).

To verify that it is not a Mozilla Team PPA issue, I downloaded the
ESR binary from Mozilla's web site.
Then pointed it to my existing profile, and the problem is the same.

I also tried:

$ TZ=America/Toronto firefox-esr

And it does nothing.

Very frustrating ...
