Yeah, this "server" was replaced back in January.
Its replacement now is a Ryzen 2700 8-core/16-thread system.
Not that all this power is needed on a regular basis, but as long as I am
replacing
things, might as well use something that will last for some years.

The purpose of trying to test the old machine is to keep as much of it out
of the
landfill as possible.

One more test: using pci=conf2 makes the PC go further in the boot process
then says it can't find a filesystem (or something to that effect). It is
the same
as when using pci=off.

Looks like the motherboard is not salvageable. CPU and RAM work well.
