[kwlug-disc] The Linux Foundation's 3D Game engine... still doesn't support Linux

I get a somewhat different impression from directly googling "Open 3D Engine".
It is described as a "cross platform" game engine, and it will be released in late 2021.

It's actually an evolution of the Lumberyard game engine (from 2016), created by Amazon to make it easy to build cloud-based 3D games that use AWS. Amazon has rebranded Lumberyard as Open 3D Engine (O3DE) and contributed it to the Open 3D Foundation. So I guess the bulk of the work for the first release of O3DE is porting Lumberyard to Linux. The source code on github is a developer preview that requires Windows (not cross platform), but hey it isn't released yet.
