Yeah, I am not sure if USB is the limitation here or something else ...

I have a really old hard disk docking station (over ~ 10 years old).
It is connected to a normal AMD PC which acts as a server.

The connection is eSATA though, not USB.

No problem recognizing 3TB disks.
