[kwlug-disc] Memory Issue

>From the htop output, you can see that your memory is full, and there
is A LOT of swapping going on.

Any machine that is swapping will be unresponsive.

We need to know what is using the most memory.

To do that, start htop, then press F6, then choose M_RESIDENT.
The result will be sorted by the RES column (resident set size).

See what application is using the most RAM.

Try again the following:

1. Reboot, so swap is completely cleared.

Before running anything, measure memory as above.

2. Then enter this command:

$ sudo sysctl vm.swappiness=5

3. Then try again to run Atom, and see how much memory is being used, and
by what.
