[kwlug-disc] UPS + separate external battery?

Following on the "Cheap UPS" thread...

I'm looking into cheap UPS.  It seems UPS discussion always turns into
"battery" discussion.  Is there UPS that is designed to use a separate
external battery, so that you can use any "car battery" without worrying
about form factor?  I guess you can do that by pulling the wires out,
but it would be better if it's by design.
