[kwlug-disc] Raspberry Pi / PCDuino Wanted

I have often wondered/pondered picking up used Android phones for the
same - video and user interface being built in.

Have things like terminal, ssh, busybox, superuser on my rooted phone.
ssh in, or out, and, well ... it's bash (or shell).

Suitability will depend upon use case, of course, particularly if wi-fi
isn't fast enough.

Same argument for old routers (OpenWRT) for that matter. And you get a
switch in the process. Bonus points if a USB port, SD card slot, etc.

For me, e.g. OpenWRT, it's so long between such terminal access,
environmentally unique maintenance commands sink into deep cold storage.
I need yet another thing to maintain with it's own (home) unique command
structure like I need another ...

If you can tolerate the form factor, you could always just go down to
Computer Recycling and pick up X computers for, what, $10 a pop? At
least you'd keep the number of maintenance command strings to a minimum.
Even if only for the duration of prototyping / proof of concept.
