If using a cable box, you might completely reboot your cable tv
equipment, i.e. remove any batteries and unplug power for 30 seconds,

It may take a while for the menu to come back. If it doesn't come back
in about an hour, you might call your cable operator.

If you don't have an HD antenna for your tv, you might look into
getting one, or borrowing one from a friend to see if that suits your
needs. You stand to save a lot :)
