[kwlug-disc] Testing a mail port

First things first ...

Are you sure you have some program that is listening on the SMTP port(s)?

Try this command:

$ netstat -ltup

Or its numeric variant:

$ netstat -ltupn

It will tell you which program is listening at which port.
