[kwlug-disc] 8-bay OTA antenna - $50

While you're all tired of hearing me go on about how happy I am to have
finally ditched Bell and all Bell products... I got rid of the Bell
satellite a few years ago now, and for the most part I'm pretty happy
without it. I miss watching hockey, though. Khalid gave me all sorts of
great instructions on how to get OTA some time back and while his
instructions were very good, neither of us took into account that my
neighbour directly south of me has a much taller house than I do, and I'm
pretty sure his house is lined with lead and wrapped in a Faraday cage, as
I bought an antenna, mounted it on the roof (on the old satellite dish
mounts), but couldn't get a signal to save my life.

I've considered getting a long pole to mount the antenna on, but those
-maniac- balloon tour people have nearly taken out my chimney twice now in
the three years I've been in this house, so if I get a long pole I'm going
to have to wrap it in barbed wire...

So my advice to you is that if you're going to go OTA, grab a compass and
see how your line-of-sight is looking before you make the plunge.
