Re: Underground

Lightning is one of the suspected causes of the West Virgina Sago coal
mine disaster in 2006. The theory here is that a lightning strike on top
of the mountain was carried into the mountain along an unused pipe once
used to vent/capture methane. According to this theory, the charge wound
up arcing in a methane filled underground chamber causing an explosion
and fire.

"Another early theory was that lightning struck a methane well that had
previously been drilled from the surface to an area behind the seals. "
