All of what you said is correct.

Rogers is acting in its own self interest. Ugly, yet understandable.

But the article also clearly states that the CRTC has propsed ending free
to air transmission, and that CBC has advocated this too.

This is where things get into what the heck areas ... Stupidity,
corruption, ...etc
