My friend Kimia is running a series of workshops for women, and is
looking for a helper. If you can help (or know somebody who can) then
please pass the word along. I think this is a worthwhile effort.

The Ubuntu workshop I am writing is set to start for four Saturday mornings
starting Sat Jan 17, 9-11AM at the Mill-Courtland Community Centre.

Knowing that my technical skills are limited to all things going well, I
realize that I am in need of a female technical volunteer for the workshop.
Can you refer someone? Feel free to forward this email as is.

In general, their role would be to:

   - Help troubleshoot technical problems participants might experience
while installing Ubuntu and installing common communication and media apps
   - Research technical questions that might arise - those that might not
be suitable for the average-non-techie-bear (me!)
   - Manage internet connectivity problems during workshops

The volunteer would not be expected to facilitate, but a good sense of
humour and the ability to speak to a lay audience would be beneficial.

The course consists:

   - Installing Ubuntu on laptops
   - Setting up browser with desired settings
   - Installing social networking and media apps
   - Becoming familiar with word processing programs
   - Learning to access free software and Ubuntu upgrades

Thank you for your help with this.

Yours,
KE
