About a year ago I bought a battery for an ancient (450VA?) APC UPS in a 
store in Dearborn Plaza, just off Lexington in Waterloo (a few shops 
down from the vehicle licensing place). It was cheaper than a new UPS, 
but not hugely so. I think I paid $70, and was told by someone at work 
that they get the same batteries in bulk for keeping networking 
equipment up, and they come at about $10 each. At least they will 
recycle the old one.
