Windows or Linux, you'll be doing raid.  Then, forget about consumer
NAS.  I have NAS box here with 3Gbps eSATA and 5Gbps USB3.  It's okay as
backup, but not as primary.  I'd recommend 
    - full tower case with enough bays
    - 90%+ (Gold/Platinum) power supply -- they tend to smell less
