[kwlug-disc] Offline/offsite archival data storage

Hi,

I use Amazon's S3 http://aws.amazon.com/s3/pricing/ , 200 GB would be $2 (for infrequent retrievals) to $19/month (regular).

S3 is pretty much a gold standard in data storage. It creates multiple redundant copies, there are Linux command line tools and (commercial) clients for Windows/Mac, it's cheap, you can use different locations, you can serve/share files on the web with one click etc. It's also probably the biggest provider so it's not going away anytime soon (many of the cloud providers you'll find are S3 resellers with a front-end).

Cheers,

Good afternoon, KWLuggers!

a small initial investment is alright.  I'm looking at around 200 GB of data.  127GB are family pictures and videos.  Damn DSLR' images and 1080p videos take up a lot. :D
