Six sigma eInfrastructure cheaper than I could do internally, and the
cost is compared against internal non-redundant equivalents, including
climate control costs, at no additional communication costs / bandwidth.

For what size enterprise.

Interesting, thought - cloud computing creates a competitor to
internal deployments, and therefore places cost constraints on
internal deployments. Once internal ceases to be cost effective - move
to the cloud where costs are known and 'contained.' Problem: What to
do with the old hardware. Let alone, how much internal hardware, and
associated cost, is necessary to best facilitate cloud computing
and/or provide off-line access. [If your comm. provider goes down,
you're SOL until it comes back.]

An example of your difficulty: Don't presume I want my work e-mail
from home, and I can run an internal mail server with Linux and a 386
for virtually no cost. Do you price against the mail server solution,
or against the box that I can add other functionality to when/as I desire?
