[kwlug-disc] HELP -- Very new to Ubuntu

I was recently given a laptop at work.
They gave me a corporate image of windows 7 that has 'known issues' as
identified by IT.

It was sugguested to me that I convert my 'Windows 7' to a VM and use
Workstation in Ubuntu; A supported configuration.

My setup is as follows
-Dell E6320
-Dual monitors

I Install Ubuntu 11.10. I am having a real problem with
-docking
-undocking
when i start my laptop on the dock all is well until I undock and redock.
my monitors go crazy; to the extent that i have been resorting to restarting
(keep in mind i am new to this ubuntu thing)

May you please sugguest a solution?
Or I will have to go to plan B.
