Haha, I was at that "scary"/"Lack of time" phase until this weekend when I realized that it is easier than it looks.

I mean, maybe if you want to create funky rules and combine POTS with VoIP, then it may get hairy, but for home usage it does not seem daunting.

I did a simple installation in a couple of hours.

5 hours if we count the reading time, but that included reading about routers and small form-factor computers.

The actual:
- Install Debian
- Install asterisk
- Find configuration instructions
- Configure
- Test

took a couple of hours, and that was on a very slow virtual.
