Hi Members,

Your KWLUG web site account is at risk!!! Yes, I'm trying to get your attention but it's true, read on.

One of the things we intend to fix is the unrestricted user account creation on the KWLUG web site. There are literally thousands of bogus user accounts on the site and they need to be purged. Under the old site there wasn't a way to prevent automated user account registration so spammers would create accounts hoping to post spammy things. It seems there was a good mechanism to prevent spammy posts but not the logins.

To correct this I have to delete over 6,000 user accounts. If you have never logged into your KWLUG account, you will be one of the first accounts to go. If you registered with an email in Russia, or on some other vague site and don't have a recognizable name, you are also at risk. Finally if you have not logged into the account for a long time you should login again to refresh the access time stamp.

I am sorry if I accidentally delete your user account. I'm going to make efforts not to do so, but with 6,000 accounts to review I could spend a week looking through them. Rather than me spend way too much time I figure it's easier if the non-active users just re-create their accounts. It's my form of crowd sourcing this task.

In summary:

If you haven't logged in lately do so here http://kwlug.org/user
If you've forgotten your password, follow the appropriate link and re-enable it.
If you registered with a foreign email domain you should let me know as soon as possible.
