[kwlug-disc] Laser Multifunction with feeder under Linux?

Hi Khalid,

We use an HP3030 monochrome laser. It's old now (5 years) and so you'd have
to choose a newer version

It has a page feeder for scanning/faxing and it works with xsane. You would
choose "multipage" and create a "project" to scan into.

The flaws are sometimes it jams or pulls two pages at once and if the pages
are double sided it means flipping the pages manually. I scan all pages one
sided flip and scan. Xsane allows re ordering pages so I reorder after the
fact.

Subject: [kwlug-disc] Laser Multifunction with feeder under Linux?

Time to replace the inkjet that died, and considering a laser multifunction.

The old one was HP and had superb support in Linux (Ubuntu).
Xane worked well.

One annoying thing is that the old multifunction did not have a sheet
feeder,
so scanning documents that are composed of more than 2 pages is a big
waste of time.

Under Windows, the multifunctions have a resident program that feeds
and scans a stack of pages and outputs a PDF.

Is there a equivalent thing under Linux (scanning a stack of paper by
feeding
them one after the other automatically, and outputing a PDF)?
Which good laser multifunctions make/model supports this?

Thanks
