JOB DESCRIPTION
IT Generalist Position  
 
Our IT team is looking for a full-time IT Generalist with broad
computer knowledge, experience in network administration and hardware
troubleshooting, as well as strong interpersonal skills to support a
variety of IT functions in our organization.  
 
As part of a team, you will be supporting the day-to-day maintenance
of our active IT infrastructure with 50 public access computers, 150
workstations, 5 Nortel PBX in different locations and a computer
refurbishing facility. We are using Windows Server Active Directory,
Exchange 2007, Debian and Ubuntu, Data VPN, MySQL, VMware to allow for
collaboration and mobility of work stations. As we are increasingly
incorporating GNU/Linux based tools within our network we consider
experience in adapting open source software an asset.  
 
The position may also include support of the various computer training
and testing options that suit individuals interests and learning
styles. Our courses range from introductory computer classes to
customized certification training and testing in IC3 and Microsoft
Office applications. Having experience in supporting computer training
and in providing technical support would be an asset.  
 
In addition to the required technical skills, the ideal candidate for
this position will enjoy engaging with people to ensure the technology
is made useful and understandable for our staff, volunteers and the
public.
