[kwlug-disc] Alerting on Ubuntu

Just found what I was looking for:
In Pidgin:  Just check your plugin for libnotify and disable it.

Though this does seem to stop all notifications in Pidgin.  My
tray icon used to signify if I had a new message.. just not broadcast
the contents of that message.

I was hoping maybe there was some software to determine
which notifications one could receive.
