For a newcomer it is absolutely guaranteed that some topics will be
over your head.  We sometimes have topics that are technically dense
and are beyond the casual interests of some experienced users.  So,
yeah, rookies can get left behind.  We all can.  If there is nothing
in a presentation to stretch your interests or experience you will
likely be bored.

Er.  Thanks?  I wasn't too "ranty"?  I'll reprise this talk for June
if nobody objects.  I'll add some slides for visual interest and keep
it to five minutes.  The regulars can use that time for a bio-break.
