My highly-honed intuition tells me that this is not good.
<grin />  I think I remember that on the previous page load, the
first value was the null string, but I could be misremembering.

I would have mentioned this sooner, but I first had to verify
that the link to the .pdf worked, and then I started reading, and
you know how time flies.  I guess that means it is a good
presentation.
