As Lori said in another thread, all current AMDs except Semprons are
64-bit capable. Intel makes it so hard though.

If you want to know if a specific machine has a 64-bit CPU or not boot
from the CD, get to a shell, then enter the command:

grep "^flags" /proc/cpuinfo | grep lm

If you see something like:

flags           : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca
cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe syscall nx *
lm* constant_tsc arch_perfmon pebs bts rep_good pni monitor ds_cpl vmx est
tm2 ssse3 cx16 xtpr dca sse4_1 lahf_lm

Then the CPU has Long Mode which means 64-bits.
