[kwlug-disc] Jan 3: statutory holiday?

Our interpretation of labour laws is that the weekday closest to the actual holiday is the "standard" day, however employers can choose to swap holiday days. That means the standard day off for New Year's day is Dec 31st. I think high school returns on the 3rd.
