Probably a smear campaign. I've met people with variously coloured and
shaded hats with very poor opinions of OpenBSD:
 - Theo De Raadt is a rude individual
 - they claim to be super secure, but are merely better than average
 - general dislike of "security people", want to discredit them, display their
   ignorance
