Not sure why they announced it today. I read about it earlier this year, for
example back in April

announcing it is now part of the standard Debian releases.
This is not the only such remix in town:
= Gentoo did it some time ago too
= There is also GNU/Hurd (DukeNukem Forever and ever?)
= Here is one that has OpenSolaris as a kernel too http://www.nexenta.org/os
All this remixing is because of the freedom to do whatever you want with the
software. Good things come out of these mashups.
