Summary:  Someone who wasn't authorized to do so uploaded some George 
Orwell books (yes, including the book 1984) that were then sold and 
distributed byAmazon to Kindle owners.  For the folks that bought those 
books, Amazon went into their accounts, deleted the books unilaterally, 
then refunded them. 

How'd you like to wake up one morning, open your Kindle, and some of 
your books are missing because Amazon pulled them back?  Wow. 

Why, oh why, is there not an OS type book reader?  A kindle with 
non-proprietary hardware running an OS that is open?
