[kwlug-disc] Generating and using PGP keys

Just to challenge what Raul said a little, here is a reason that I
wish I had started using
PGP earlier in my life to sign things that I do:

For example, when I was in highschool I spent _a lot_ of time on a
particular web forum
(PC Gamer magazine official forums, for those who care, but I think
they've been taken
off the web now) under a particular semi-anonymous nickname. By "a
lot" of time, I mean I
was averaging 3 or 4 posts a day, and I was in the Top 10 users sorted
by post-count.

I think it would be really handy if I had digitally signed all or most
of my messages, because
then in future I would be able to _prove_ that it was really me who
spent all that time there,
and had all that expertise (I was the self-proclaimed resident
comp-hardware expert) - for
a resume of sorts.

I think a similar case can be made for any modern newsgroups.

But I guess that doesn't really help much if you still spend a lot of
time on non-trusted PCs. :P
