Well, it's almost December, and thus it is time for our KWLUG meeting.
In between standing in line for four hours to purchase Black Friday
goods and setting Yule Goats on fire, why not enjoy a relaxing evening
of GPU supercomputers and AI interfaces?
Lori Paniak will tell us about the University of Waterloo WATGPU
project, which pools GPU resources from different campus computers and
makes that computing power available to researchers.
Sam Zhang will tell us about Open WebUI, a web interface to AI systems
that can be used both online and offline. Sam will demonstrate some of
the unique functionality of Open WebUI, and show how it can be used to
compare and contrast different AI backends. (Originally this
presentation was scheduled to be about the commandline interface
Fabric, but Sam felt more comfortable discussing Open WebUI for this
meeting.)
We don't have information about a possible December restaurant meetup
yet. Stay tuned.
This month's meeting will begin at 7pm, and will again be held online
at https://webconference.kwlug.org/room/kwlug and in-person at LIB 329
in the Dana Porter library at the University of Waterloo. You can get
more information about meeting locations/parking options/etc from the
KWLUG website.
