For this month's meeting, how about some good old fashioned
capitalism? Both of our presenters this month earn their livings
working with open source. (Weirdly, both presenters plan to present in
person, which might be the first time we have had all presentations in
person since we went hybrid?)

Our first presenter will be familiar to those with long memories:
Hubert Chathi, who last spoke to us in 2019 about his work with
Matrix, a decentralized communications protocol that supports a rich
ecosystem of clients, servers, and bots. He will give us a refresher
on what Matrix is, and then tell us what is new and exciting in the
ecosystem.

Our second presenter is Cam Davidson-Pilon, the CEO of the local startup
Pioreactor. The "ioreactor" in the name comes from "bioreactor"
-- controlled environments to culture organisms for research. The "Pi"
comes from Raspberry Pi, which is the the computing platform that
powers the platform. Cam will tell us about how Pioreactor works from
both a biological and hardware perspective, tell us about what Linux
and the Raspberry Pi brings to the mix, and show how they design
software tools for controlling multiple Pioreactors simultaneously.

As usual, these presentations will start at 7pm, after meeting
announcements.

We also have a restaurant meetup scheduled for this month. It will be
held on on Monday, June 17. Once again it will be held at Crabby Joe's
in Kitchener. It is helpful to RSVP to dinner at kwlug.org if you are
attending, but not mandatory. Get more details here:
https://kwlug.org/node/1384

Other groups are holding meetups too. One that has restarted recently
is CivicTechWR, which aims to use technology to interact with
government and civil society. They are holding meetups every Wednesday
at Den 1880. Learn more here: https://www.meetup.com/civictechwr/

As always, we are on the looking for presentations. They can be
in-person or remote. We have had some new people offer to present
recently, which has been very exciting. We would love to have you
present too.

This Monday's meeting will be held both online at
https://webconference.kwlug.org/room/kwlug and in-person at the Dana
Porter Library, LIB 329, at the University of Waterloo.
